Winograd Volunteers Take Part in Day of Activism

LOMITA, CA—Volunteers and supporters of Marcy Winograd joined forces at the South Bay Armenian Center to take part in a Day of Activism on May 15 organized by her campaign.

The day entailed organizing a small fundraiser along with door-to-door canvassing. A car wash fundraiser created an opportunity to raise funds while disseminating Winograd’s name and positions on major issues in the community. The door-to-door canvassing targeted 160 households and reached 200 Democratic voters.

“I am proud of all the volunteers,” explained Winograd’s Latino Outreach Director Ricardo Reyes. “They continuously take time out of their schedule to make a difference in these elections.”

Marcy Winograd, a public school teacher, has recently picked up several key endorsements. One such endorsement came from the United Teachers of Los Angeles. UTLA, established in 1970, represents 48,000 public school teachers, health, and human service professionals at 750 school locations.

“Once again, today, we were able to witness the essence of the Winograd Campaign,” explained South Bay ANC-PAC leader Shant Baboujian. “She has embarked on a grassroots campaign filled with morals, ethics, and honesty which has changed the election process in our district.”

The primary election between Winograd and Congresswoman Jane Harman will take place on June 8, 2010. Individuals interested in learning more about Marcy Winograd’s candidacy may visit her website at:
