BURBANK–The Armenian Russian Television Network (ARTN) and several community volunteers will receive awards from the Armenian National Committee of Burbank at its 4th Annual Banquet on Friday, May 8, 2009 at ARBAT Banquet Hall, 711 S. San Fernando Road in Burbank.
“This year we will recognize a local Armenian television network and volunteers for their efforts to engage Armenian-Americans in community and civic affairs in Burbank and adjoining cities,” explained ANC of Burbank representative Stepan Boyajian.
Armenian Russian Television Network also known as ARTN provides 6 hours of prime time television programming every day to all Southern California households at no charge. Last year, ARTN partnered with Shant TV from Armenia to offer programming on KVMD from 6 pm to midnight every day of the week. The channel is accessible to all Southern California households as well as subscribers to cable and satellite television service.
ARTN programming is available as a 24 hour channel on Charter Communications channel 288 in Burbank, Glendale, and LaCrescenta. ARTN started 25 years ago as a one hour television program and expanded its programming to be the most watched Armenian network in Southern California.
The ANC representative praised ARTN for its cooperation with community organizations and civic leaders to increase public awareness of their rights, responsibilities, and opportunities in Burbank and surrounding areas.
The ANC had also announced earlier that it will be honoring Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich at the May 8th Banquet for more than 30 years of service as an elected official representing Burbank and other communities.
The annual function organized by the Burbank Chapter of the Armenian National Committee presents an opportunity for the local chapter to recognize and honor individuals, businesses, and organizations for their efforts to promote greater appreciation for the Armenian heritage, harmony between the various ethnic groups residing in Burbank, and public awareness about the Armenian Genocide.
