Community Members Meet With Jack Weiss

SHERMAN OAKS–Local activists met with Los Angeles City Councilmember Jack Weiss earlier this week to discuss issues of concern to the Armenian-American community. Councilmember Jack Weiss is running for Los Angeles City Attorney come May.

During the intimate reception hosted by Sevak Khatchadourian, local activists discussed issues of concern to the Armenian- American community, including local outreach programs to youth, the 2010 Census and professional appointments and positions to Los Angeles City Boards.

Khatchadourian, a real estate broker and developer explained the history of the Armenian community in Los Angeles and the continuous involvement of Armenian-Americans in the professional, cultural and spiritual arena in Los Angeles.

“It brings me great satisfaction to coordinate an opportunity to meet with Councilmember Weiss to discuss how we can reach out to and serve the community, especially Armenian-Americans,” said Khatchadourian. “I believe Councilmember Jack Weiss identifies the strengths in the Armenian community and stands behind the betterment of our organizations, schools and people.”

Guests included Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Armenia’s Consul General to Los Angeles Grigor Hovhannissian, and prominent Armenian-American business members, community activists and public figures.

“Through our professional, educational and civic accomplishments, Armenian- Americans have made a big imprint in the betterment of our city,” said Pattyl Aposhian-Kasparian. “We look forward to continuing to build on our strong relationship with Jack Weiss throughout the years.”
