BURBANK, CA – Emmy-award nominated actor, best-selling author and environmental activist Ed Begley, Jr., has endorsed Garen Yegparian for Burbank City Council. This endorsement comes on the heels of four former Burbank Mayors endorsing Garen for the general election, because of his leadership and consensus-building skills.
With Ed’s endorsement, Garen proves his candidacy reaches all four corners of Burbank: a list of supporters that excludes no one!
Begley, Jr. is the author of best-seller, "Living Like Ed" and co-star of the hit HGTV series, "Living with Ed." His book is currently being read across Burbank as a part of the Library’s "One Book, One City" program.
"Garen Yegparian’s commitment to common-sense conservation and best environmental practices will help the City of Burbank save money and improve the health of its residents," said Begley, Jr. "I met Garen during my service in the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, when he represented Burbank. He will do right by Burbank."
As the only candidate endorsed by the Sierra Club, Garen Yegparian, like Ed Begley, Jr. lives in an environmentally-conscious manner and approaches issues from a common-sense perspective to enhance the livability and sustainability of Burbank.
Garen bikes and takes public transit to work, on a daily basis, and has been an outspoken advocate for the need to reduce the City’s water and energy consumption as a way to help the City save money.
"I am proud and honored to be endorsed by Ed Begley, Jr.," said Garen, currently the Chairman of the City of Burbank Park, Recreation & Community Services Board. "I appreciate the fact that Ed not only speaks about the importance of conservation and the need to be environmentally conscious, he lives it."
Organizations such as the Sierra Club and the Burbank Democratic Club endorsed Garen because of his commitment to improving the quality of life for all residents, while Burbank’s Assemblyman, Paul Krekorian, and the President of the Burbank Board of Education, Larry Applebaum, are supporting Garen because of his leadership and call for increased financial accountability to weather these tough economic times.
