Glendale College Offering Study Abroad Program in Armenia

GLENDALE–As part of its long-standing Study Abroad Program–Glendale Community College (GCC) is offering a trip to Armenia for the first time in summer 2005. The month-long program–scheduled from June 21 to July 21–includes three college-credit courses in Armenian history–art–architecture–language–literature–and music. Other features of the trip include three days in Artsakh and numerous excursions to educational and recreational sites to monasteries–monumen’s–museums–as well as Lake Sevan and Ghapan–Glendale’s Sister City.

Dr. Levon Marashlian–professor of history at GCC–will serve as the program’s faculty director–as well as teach the Armenian History course. Conversational Armenian and International Field Studies courses will be taught by Lilit Galstian–PhD candidate in Armenian literature–and Dr. Levon Chookaszian–professor of art at Yerevan State University. Lectures will be at the Yerevan State University Foreign Guest House–where students will be housed–and on-site at various locations.
