YEREVAN( — According to the Project Officer at the Tourism Department of Artsakh’s Ministry of Economy, Artak Grigoryan, Azerbaijan’s attempt to interfere with Artsakh’s stand failed at the ITB Berlin World’s Leading Travel Trade Show, which was held from March 9-13.

Grigoryan, on Monday discussed the acts done by the Azerbaijanis to reporters in Yerevan.

“The show was going quietly on the first days devoted to bilateral meetings,” Grigoryan said. “But when the exhibition hall opened, Azerbaijan closed its stand and put up posters of political nature there. After that, a group of Azerbaijanis had approached Karabakh’s stand and attempted to cover it with Azerbaijan’s flags; then they had blocked the entrance [to Karabakh’s stand]. But thanks to the quiet and discreet actions by the security staff, the incident was settled, and the visitors’ access toward Karabakh’s stand was restored.”

“The Azerbaijani side is doing everything possible to impede Artsakh’s participation in such international events,” Artsakh Deputy Minister of Economy Sergey Shahverdyan added. “At first, with diplomatic sources, then with various actions.”

He noted that Artsakh has been sending delegations to international fairs for the past eight years, which has contributed to making Artsakh more recognizable and appealing.
